Base Load and Domestic power generation

Short Description:
Converting Hydro turbines to run on any form of gas pressure
Status:
Plan / Chart / Drawing
Description:
In order to reduce Carbon emission from heat activated power generation one needs to increase the efficiency of the turbine generating the power. Steam turbines in general have an efficiency of below 45% whilst Hydro turbines have an efficiency beyound 90%. By attaching a 90% efficient DaS Energy gas/water energy converter to a recycling Hydro turbine the portability of steam and other heated gasses replaces the need for Hydro dams. This also cuts out the high maintenace and down time for descaling of Steam turbines. This process can be used in both base load and domestic power supply. It easily connects to any form of heat pump such as found is gas fired Fridges and Freezeers and supplies electicity without raising the fuel consumption. This comes about by tapping into the high pressure side of the heat pump and detouring the gas through the DaS gas/water energy converter then back into the high pressure line. In effect borrowing the high pressure before it goes about its work of cooling. The power output of the turbine generator is 720 watts for each nine Bar of pressure at a flow rate of 1 litre per second. Each doubling of pressure or flow rate doubles the power output. It has real application for Solar and Geothermal power generation as both these use a Steam turbine, which has less than half the efficiency of a Hydro turbine. Much development has occured of late in the heat pump which traditionaly used a Ammonia/water base to obtain pressure. The latest of these is NASA champaigne heat pump using only Co2, which highly reduces the fuel heat to pressure ratio. Heat pumps that are not used for cooling do not need refridgerant gasses and therefore other gasses including Hydrogen can be employed. An example water at 20Dc when raised to 550Dc produces 160 Bar of pressure. Hydrogen at 20Dc when raised to 85Dc produces 700 Bar pressure. (A Steam turbine receiving 160 Bar pressure produces 350 Megawatts of power) Any gas of lesser expansion to heat than Hydrogen may be employed. This new invention makes it possible to generate base load and domestic power without having to provide a heat source other than the diffrence in temperature between outside and inside the building it is housed in. Heat activated turbine power generators are now being faced with a need to reduce Carbon emission. By doubling the power output of the turbine without increasing the fuel load effectively Carbon emissions have been cut in half. By using a gas pressure such as Steam to drive a 92% efficient recycling hydro turbine all the maintenance and down time for descaling of Steam turbines are done away with. By use of 92% efficient recycling hydro turbine both Solar and Geothermal can double their power output without sourcing extra heat. DaS Energy Pty ltd has made this possible with a 90% efficient gas/water energy converter that is self activating, self setting and has no wearing parts. Its place and forget construction has no need of maintenance. The system is equaly practicable in both base load and domestic power generation. The DaS Energy turbine system is highly suited to the new Co2 heat pump of NASA. Hydro turbines by design cannot be Steam/gas driven. However Steam or gas pressure can effectively pressure water or any other liquid through a recycling Hydro turbine. This lead to the creation of a device containing only floating ball as moving part to keep the Steam/gas seperated from the water passing through the turbine yet providing pressure to the same water.
